I really like having one of each, so I can choose, "Let's see, do I feel like risking gelcoat repair today?!"<br /><br />Then I'll add up gelcoat repair costs. Usually it's about $70-80 because I send it to the shop. This year, I'm still clean, but the paddling season isn't over yet!<br /><br />Cheers.BaffinPaddlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15682694017265829467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7584779124988587458.post-85828461032842775332012-10-01T19:35:52.664-04:002012-10-01T19:35:52.664-04:00I love the look and stiffness of fiberglass - but ...I love the look and stiffness of fiberglass - but give me a plastic boat that I don't have to worry about when I paddle! I really enjoy poking in close to shore and tempting the waves near rocks - not a good environment for fiberglass.Paddle2Seehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09154642434089278166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7584779124988587458.post-24389128405972966222012-09-23T12:12:24.188-04:002012-09-23T12:12:24.188-04:00I hear ya Mike. The speed and beauty of fiberglass is hard to beat, but the freedom and price of plastic is priceless!BaffinPaddlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15682694017265829467noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7584779124988587458.post-65073378050481644312012-09-23T06:20:49.145-04:002012-09-23T06:20:49.145-04:00So, Peggy, it's plastic or fiberglass? Plastic...So, Peggy, it's plastic or fiberglass? Plastic for me - hands down! Plastic is very forgivening. You can knock it around, run up over some rocks, experience a "hard stop" (hit a submerged object), and it keeps ticking. Wait! Maybe that's a watch! But, either way, I'll take plastic! ;-) Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14957689266739581501noreply@blogger.com
