Find your beach in the 1000 Islands

Doesn't this make you want to get out and paddle?

Linger?

Forget about work?

Dream?

Play?

And more?

Me too!

I love the way this image makes me feel about paddling, my kayak, the environment, and the people we paddle with, so I submitted it to a photo contest.

Do I have a chance?

It's the desktop image on my computer so I can get lost in it for a good long while. Especially on rainy days. I hope you enjoy it too.

Fall is a great time to get out and find your dream shot.

A kayak can take you there!

Happy fall paddles!

  1. Your boat is begging you to lay off work and come out in play! Look at that big yellow fellow, it just looks so lonely. Surely you can take a few hours and go somewhere.....

That's a picture which is definitely dangerous to productivity! Best wishes on the contest!

  2. Ha, ha. Thanks. It doesn't have to beg very hard. And it had a few other kayaks to paddle with, but I always launch last and hang around nice spots longer.

It's my other fiberglass boat that's lonely in the garage!

    Cheers from Canada!

    1. Just found your blog as I was looking up some info on buying a kayak (again)Your in my backyard, we have such a great area to kayak here in the Kingston region.
I'm getting back into the sport afetr a bit of a layoff. Windsurfing keeps me occupied, but those calm days need a kayak. I'll keep reading your posts
      Cheers

    2. Hi Spunner, glad to hear that. Fall is usually when the kite boarders and windsurfers come out around here in the Ottawa, Ontario/Gatineau, Quebec area when the beaches are free and the wind is up.

But if you get a kayak, you'll have to decide which you'll take out on the windy, wavy days.

It's more fun than flat water.

See Kayaking with kite surfers: http://baffinpaddler.blogspot.ca/2012/09/kayaking-with-kite-surfers.html

Maybe let us know what kind of kayak you buy?
Boreal is liquidating their stock in Quebec City.

      Cheers.

    3. P.S. Spunner, 1000 Islands Kayaking in Gananoque, Ontario sells off their used fleet each year. You could check them out for a kayak. I think they have a Boreal Baffin in the fleet too, and lots of other kayaks.

      Tell them I said hi.

      Happy boat shopping!

  3. Yeah, that's a great shot. Somebody could just get lost looking at that...what? Did you say something? I'm afraid I was mind-paddling again :)

  4. Hey, that's a great idea. It will save me a lot of time from having to haul gear around, and hang up wet gear to dry! Can you burn calories that way too?

    Cheers from Canada!

  6. Hi Baffinpaddler, got a sweet deal on a Boreal Saguenay, very good condition(glass) for just under 1g. Needs a good buff and wax but otherwise ready to go. Out on the water last weekend, very happy
    Cheers
